Newspaper vendors in the Old Taxi Park drunk over 10 crates of soda as The New Vision continued with its promotion dubbed ‘Vendor refreshment’.
Herbert Ssempogo writes that the excited vendors jostled and fell on each other as the company circulation manager, Tom Wasswa, distributed the ice-cold sodas to them.
One of the vendors, Edward Opio, could not hide expressing his excitement as he drunk his soda.
“We are very grateful to The New Vision. The heat sometimes becomes too much for us in the field that refreshment is required,” Opio said.
Ronald Tibasimwa, another vendor, said, “New Vision Ewangaale. (long live New Vision). We will increase the sales of the paper.”
Wasswa told the enthiusiastic vendors that the company appreciated the work they were doing.
“We cannot survive without you. We will keep on churning surprises like this one,” Wasswa said.
He appealed to the vendors to increase the volume of sales of all New vision papers.
Some idlers used the opportunity to get a free drink as well by posing as newspaper vendors.
“We shall continue selling and reading your newspapers if you continue give us some thing to drink,” shouted a man in his mid-forties. Ends
