EIGHT district councillors led by the deputy speaker, Fred Wajokeraina, on Thursday walked out of a council session, causing a pre-mature adjournment of the meeting.
The council had disagreed over who should be Mayuge district’s chief administrative officer.
The session presided over by the speaker, Zakia Nzaireki, was held at the district headquarters and was attended by MP James Kubeketerya for Bunya East and Mayuge Woman MP Lukia Nakadama.
The district chairman, Baker Ikoba Tigawalana, told the council that the status report, the second item on the agenda, was not yet ready but would be presented on Monday.
However, some councillors insisted the item be discussed since it involved the key issue of who would care-take the CAO’s office.
Steven Kyakwise, previously district education officer, took over the post as acting CAO in January. Ends
