THE management of Nile Coach Bus Company, recently resumed services to the West Nile region via Karuma-Pakwach road, which they had suspended due to Joseph Kony’s LRA rebels attacks on their buses enroute.
Company officials had decided to stop using the route after four rebel ambushes in a month in which more than 10 passengers were killed and four buses destroyed.
A week ago, the Nile Coach buses that used to ply to West Nile via Karuma-Pakwach road diverted to the longer Masindi-Wanseko route where the passengers have to cross Lake Albert by ferry to Panyimur.
A source at Kampala Nile Coach office said “ We have resumed to use the Karuma-Pakwach route because the Masindi-Wanseko route is very expensive and very slow.”
The source who declined to be named, said passengers were complaining about the harassment by security operatives at Wanseko landing site.
