“There is a lot of talk as to who should be our next president and rumour has it that you could be the one,†the district woman MP, Mrs. Loice Bwambale, said yesterday in Kasese town. I confirm to you now that the women and men of Kasese are behind you if you announce your bid,†she said.
She was speaking at the Rwenzori Square on Independence Day. In his brief speech, the district chief, Yokasi Bihande addressed Bukenya as “Your Excellency,†causing an applause from the audience.
Bihande hailed the Movement policy of decentralisation, saying it had empowered leaders at all levels.
“Even a sub-county chief can now sign a cheque of sh50m to pay tenderers,†he said. Bukenya did not react to the remarks on his presidential bid.
