CONTROVERSIAL Uganda Darts Association (UDA) chairman Gabriel Oloka has finally been sacked.
The veteran administrator was booted by the extra ordinary general assembly that convened at National Council of Sports (NCS) headquarter, Lugogo on Saturday.
The marathon meeting, which was presided over by NCS assistant general secretary John Odyek, castigated the executive for letting down the game.
When the Oloka matter was put to vote at 6.20 pm, the 17 delegates voted 14-2 in favour Oloka’s exit. The vote for the executive to stay was 13-4.
Oloka’s exit comes at the height of animosity between him and the executive. Oloka was suspended last month.
Bank of Uganda’s Gordon Bamutura, a former vice chairman, was unanimously voted UDA chairman. Abby Ariong of Kobs was elected vice chairman while Martin Okuyo (Lugazi) became assistant general secretary.
Better known as “GWJ” in darts circles, Oloka has been synonymous with the sport-and likewise, the controversies that have rocked it over the years.
“I must thank you very much for your decision. Very sincerely,” Oloka remarked in his speech. Ends
