A SENIOR Police officer has been accused of receiving a sh1m bribe from the Managing Director of Excel Insurance Company, David Walakira Mukasa.
Hillary Kiirya writes that Detective Inspector Ensio Odoch, allegedly demanded for the bribe to suppress a sh550m case against Walakira. The money was meant for school fees for orphans in Soroti district.
Walakira was, however, acquitted by Buganda Road Court chief magistrate Frank Nigel Othembi because Odoch refused to testify.
S. Anyang from the Inspector General of Government said he participated in Odoch’s arrest and recovered sh1m on him at Excel Insurance offices.
