Two containers yesterday tipped over a two-metre high perimeter wall, crushing four vehicles and seriously injuring one pick-up truck driver at SDV Transami on Nakawa-Ntinda road.
Kanoni E. Nampala, working with the Nakawa Pick-up Operators company, was rushed to Mulago Hospital in critical condition while bleeding profusely.
The cause of the accident could not be established but SDV Transami Operations chief E. Nkiribakunze, said the matter was being investigated and a statement on the findings would be released later.
He declined to comment any further.
By the time The New Vision arrived at the scene, the SDV Transami general manager was said to be in a crisis meeting with other managers and could not be reached for comment.
All the four vehicles including three saloon cars that were parked in the area were severely damaged.
Nampala had been hired to go and pick up some cargo to take to Nateete, according to eyewitnesses who had talked to him before the accident occurred.
Some on-lookers who claimed to have seen the containers tip off the stack of containers, said it could have been triggered off by interference from within the Transami premises.
They said a crane lifting other containers could have caused it but Transami officials would not deny nor confirm this.
