Two dead
MAYUGE — Two people died when their canoe capsized in Lake Victoria on Sunday evening. The incident occurred as the canoe was heading for Bugolo Islands from Lwanika landing site. The chief fisherman at the site, George Sembela, attributed the accident to over-loading. He identified the dead as Samuel Konge and Ndaye Weswa.

Prisons get
KAMPALA — The Government has released sh250m to Uganda Prisons department to decongest its cells. This was recently disclosed by prisons commissioner Joseph Etima at his office. “This money will help us to expand some of the cells which are currently not able to accommodate a large number of prisoners,” he said.

KAMPALA — The Police have decried the escalating rate of child abuse and sacrifice and blamed the situation on parents. “We are worried that parents are involved in satanic practices,” Police commissioner Frederick Iga told parents at Buziga Montessori school Saturday.

Church aids
MBARARA — The Catholic Church on Sunday called upon Christians to forward anything they felt could help the people in the war-ravaged areas who have been displaced by the LRA. “Bring whatever you have and help our brothers and sisters who are being subjected to untold suffering,” a priest appealed.
