The refugee who attempted to beat the presidential protection unit security to pass a letter on to Nigerian president Olesegun Obasanjo at the Independence Day celebrations at Kololo, is still being held at the Central Police Station (CPS), Kampala.
Davis Weddi reports that Abdalla II Bilal Twombayi, a refugee of Senegalese decent, is being investigated by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence for subversion, sources at CPS said.
Kampala’s Regional CID officer Moses Sakira said, “He is in the cells. There is a lot of co-ordination required to establish his motive for getting close to president Yoweri Museveni and his counterpart.”
Abadalla II who was then dressed in a dirty white kanzu (tunic) tried to break through the tight security detail at Kololo Airstrip to president Obasanjo but the PPU pounced on him before he could pass on the letter.
He is reported to be in the same cell with the suspected notorious thug called Black.
