ARUA Century Bottling Company temporarily halted supplies of Coke products to the West Nile region. Marketing manager, Patrick Mugyengi said last week, “We keep trying to deliver to West Nile, but the insecurity has been a problem. We assess the situation on a day-by-day basis based on what the area manager tells us,” he said.

UNBS tests
KAMPALA The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has gained international accreditation and has resumed carrying out microbiological tests on fish, two years after the European Union (EU) fish exports ban was lifted. The tests to be carried out at the UNBS laboratories at the Nakawa , will also consider water and food items like milk and related products.

KAMULI Sugarcane farmers in Kamuli and Jinja districts have excitedly welcomed the new innovation of a mobile cane crasher soon to be launched on the Ugandan market. They said the labour and time saving machine that uses a diesel engine with little consumption will help them raise value of the crop and also evade the monopolistic market of their sole customers the sugar factories. Some farmers said this is going to save them transport costs.
