A woman has sued former presidential candidate, Francis Wazarwahi Bwengye, seeking to recover over sh14m after a failed sale agreement for a piece of land in Nakasero.
Grace Natoolo, through her lawyer, Yese Mugenyi, told court on Monday that on December 6, 2001, she advanced sh70m to Bwengye for a sh90m piece of land, which he intended to curve from his Plot 3 Akii Bua Road, Nakasero.
She said on June 21, 2002 Bwengye, being unable to fulfil his outstanding obligations under the contract decided to repudiate the contract by returning sh60m to her, leaving a balance of sh10m.
Court also heard that the land measured 0.243 hectare.
It was an understanding between the parties of the contract that the first payment of the consideration of sh70m be paid to Bwengye’s wife and, on receipt of the money, she (wife) would hand over two copies of the agreement to Natoolo.
She is now seeking to recover sh14,719,388 from Bwengye including general damages and interest.
