JINJA — An Indian national has appeared in court in Jinja on charges of having carnal knowledge of a fellow male person. Ratan Singher, 45, a technician with Kengrow industries appeared before Jinja chief magistrate Roy Byaruhanga but denied the charges. He was released on bail.

Project on
Jinja — Work on the construction of a sh270m block for Jinja college school has started. The headmaster, Joseph Kawuki, said the six-classroom and computer block, proposed by parents in the year 2000, is expected to be completed by 2006.

Teachers out
ARUA — The district speaker, Ali Adrama, has banned four teachers still on the government pay roll from being LC5 councillors. Adrama declared Jimmy Yeka, Florence Driwaru, Genesis Achema and D. Atilio non-councillors. This was during the council session at the social centre on Tuesday.
