DELEGATES Badru Ssentongo and Joseph Kakooza, who were expelled by soccer governing body FUFA, will be replaced after a by-election set for November 23.
The date was fixed by FUFA at an executive meeting at Nakulabye on Tuesday.
Ssentongo and Kakooza, who had filed a petition seeking the nullification of the elections that brought the current executive to power, were expelled by a unanimous decision of the FUFA general assembly on September 28.
The general assembly banned the duo from taking part in any football related activities after they failed to withdraw their petition from the Centre of Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (CADER). The arbitration centre also failed to reach a verdict on the issue, creating further confusion.
FUFA had wanted the disgruntled delegates to petition the appropriate bodies as provided for by the FIFA and CAF statutes but not a court of law which could lead to a ban on Uganda.
FUFA secretary Haruna Mawanda told the Nile Special Super League weekly press conference at Lugogo yesterday that new delegates will be elected to replace the duo and another Kalangala delegate, Gitta Kasirivu, who passed away.
Ssentongo is a Kayunga delegate and Kakooza represents Kalangala,
“Everything is set to see that these people get a representative in the assembly. We have already appointed the returning officers,” said Mawanda.
Mawanda, together with vice president administration Godfrey Kwizera will preside over the Kayunga elections while John Baptist Ssemanobe and Patrick Isiagi will supervise the Kalangala elections.
Obua was elected in December. He beat Hajji Abaas Kaawaase and Michael Okiror to local soccer’s top job.
