The highly billed Super and VEK cups will not be held this year.

NFLC secretary Justus Mugisha yesterday confirmed that both Cups will not be held as a result of NFLC’s decision to adjust the football calendar. The league starts on November 23. The Super Cup, which involves a clash between the league and Kakungulu Cup winners, will not take place due to the limited time they are having.

“We do not have enough time to organise this tournament. We did not even discuss it in our meeting and I am sure it won’t take place. We are busy preparing for the new season,” said Mugisha.

VEK chairman Kavuma Kabenge also said that the tournament, which involves competition between the three giants Villa, Express and KCC will not take place due to the busy schedule brought about by the new football calendar.

“It is unfortunate but let us first study the new football calendar and see whether we can hold it next season,” he said.
