UGANDA Sports Press Association (USPA) has honoured versatile Robert Seguya for his pivotal role in Uganda’s victory over Kenya in the Confederation of African Rugby Six-nation tournament in Nairobi last month.

The MTN Heathens star who kicked in six penalties and a conversion that propelled Uganda to a 30-22 win, was elected USPA Sportsman of October at the sports journalists’ monthly assembly at Tourist Hotel yesterday.

Seguya gathered 450 points — beating Uganda Cranes’ goalkeeper Abdu Salim by 15 in a meeting sponsored by Katumwa Sports Centre.

Salim was nominated for his superb performance in the Castle Cup in Tanzania and for his club Express in the Kakungulu Cup.

Castrol Independence rally winner Charlie Lubega and runner-up Dipu Ruparelia, unbeaten Wanderers Cricket Club and Martin Olweny and Ivan Ssentogo who won the East Africa table tennis doubles, were commended.

The journalists also selected a panel of 15 people that will vote the excelling journalists of the year in various categories.

The sports journalists’ of year awards ceremony is scheduled for December 6 at UMA Conference Hall.
