UGANDA is yet to clear CAF dues, and is looking for sh13m to beat this month’s deadline.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) must clear sh13m to pave way to continental competition for SC Villa, Express and Police.
The CAF dues are part of the financial burden FUFA faces. They need a further sh57m to prepare Cranes for the Senior Challenge Cup in Tanzania this month, and, the U-23 team to participate in the All Africa games qualifiers.
“The situation is miserable. We are expected to clear our CAF dues within this month as stipulated by the deadline. We are apparently trying to seek some sponsorship,” said FUFA treasurer Patrick Isiagi.
According to FUFA’s budget, sh37m will be spent on CECAFA preparations, sh13m for CAF dues and sh20m on the U-23 team.
“We have at least tried to readjust our expenditures but the essence still is that you can’t do much without sponsorship,” Isiagi revealed yesterday.

- The 2003 Nile Special Super League fixtures are ready, and will be released by Friday.
National Football League Committee (NFLC) secretary Justus Mugisha has said they delayed releasing them because they had to first complete inspection of all the grounds to be used. Fifteen teams will compete in the league.
“All clubs have finished registering. The league kicks off next week and we have to release the fixture as early as possible,” said Mugisha.
New entrants Top TV opted for Wankulukuku together with runner up Express. SC Villa and URA SC will play their home matches from Namboole while KCC, Police and Simba will have their home encounters at Nakivubo.
Others are Game Boys (Tororo), Akol (Lira), Buikwe (Buikwe), Kinyara (Kinyara), Iganga (Saza ground), Mbale Heroes (Mbale), Mbarara (Kakyeka) and Masaka (Recreation Ground).
The players’ registration exercise starts tomorrow and ends December 23. Each club registers 35.
