UGANDA could live to regret the numerous chances they blew yesterday, in the later stages of the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Cranes, playing a Somalian side that recently lost 15-0 to Kenya, should have wrapped up the Group B match with at least five goals in the first half.

But Paul Hasule’s boys looked like they had left their scoring boots in Kampala until Geoffrey Serunkuma and Abubaker Tabula netted shortly after recess.

Serunkuma stabbed in his third Cranes goal in the 50th minute off a Simeon Masaba corner. A short while later, substitute Abubaker Tabula struck with a blockbuster from 20 yards.

They there after joined the rest in squandering chance after chance. Coach Hasule could not hide his disappointment.

“The attitude was wrong right from the start. The boys were not hungry whenever they got into the opponents’ half.”

A goal feast might have failed, but it was nevertheless a worthy result to celebrate Uganda’s 100th CECAFA match. In Group A in Mwanza, Eritrea held Burundi.
