YOUTH and children minister Dr. Alex Kamugisha has said Joseph Kony and his fighters of the Lords Residence Army (LRA), have not taken a bath since the UPDF launched the Iron Fist offensive against them.

He said most rebels surrendering to the UPDF said they were always on the run from army pursuit.

Kamugisha was addressing youths and women attending a cadre development course organised by the Nebbi RDC office at Angal Ayila Youth centre at Onjuko hill-side camp in Nebbi recently.

“Kony and his fighters have nowhere to hide and many are surrendering in large numbers. We give them water to bathe because they had no time to bathe following the massive UPDF offensive,” Kamugisha said.

He urged the youth and women not to support rebellion because it retarded development and led to poverty.

The minister was accompanied by public service state minister Patrick Okumu Ringa, who is also the area MP.

Others present were RDC Peter Odok W’Oceng, ARDC Wale Nyainga, LC5 vice-chairperson Okwir Amulah, district and security officials.

Kamugisha said President Yoweri Museveni’s usual tour of the country to access and interact with the people would be postponed because he was concentrating on ending the war in the north.

Okumu Ringa told the youth that the cadre course was a forum where development plans were discussed.

“Chakamuchaka is good as it opens your eyes regardless of your political affiliation,” the minister said.
