A Russian delegation is in the country for talks on the possibility of supplying Uganda with military hardware, including combat helicopters.

The military team led by Markov Anatoliw, head of the department of cooperation with Sub-Saharan Africa, met President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday.

State House said in a statement yesterday that Museveni and the visitors discussed “matters of mutual interest between Uganda and Russia.”

Other sources said the talks centred on the supply of hi-tech military equipment.

Defence minister Amama Mbabazi and the army Chief of Staff Brig. Nakibus Lakara attended the talks. Also present was the Russian ambassador to Uganda, Alexander Sadovinikov.
