CALTEX Uganda on Wednesday launched the professional drivers’ programme aimed at shifting the emphasis from the driver as a ‘Caltex vehicle operator’ to one of a ‘Caltex brand ambassador’.

While passing out the forty six successful drivers after a one years’ training, the Country Chairman Caltex, James Chilongo said, “As we prepare for the road safety week, we are happy to unleash in the history of Uganda a professional drivers programme to boost the relationship between our drivers and our customers.

“Our drivers spend more time interfacing with our customers and the public than most other employees, and the image they portray directly affects the company image. A driver’s image can enhance brand value. From today the public will seeing Caltex drivers putting on uniforms name tags identifying them as Caltex delivery drivers” he said.

He said this is part of the Caltex corporate value.
The company Public Relations Manager, Edwin Kugonza said, “By training drivers, Caltex has kicked it in style. Let everybody drive safely forever and whenever,”
He said by accepting to undergo the one year training, they are aiming at making sure that driving become professional. Not onlyin the way they drive, but the products they handle.
