PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni met UPDF senior commanders over the weekend to discuss the security situation in the country among them the Lord’s Resistance Army terrorist activities in northern Uganda.

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni met UPDF senior commanders over the weekend to discuss the security situation in the country among them the Lord’s Resistance Army terrorist activities in northern Uganda.
The meeting chaired by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, was attended by selected top army officers. It took place at State House Nakasero, Kampala, military sources said yesterday.
Army spokesman Major Shaban Bantariza and the President’s press secretary, Mary Karooro Okurut, confirmed the meeting but declined to disclose the details.
“The meeting took place but I do not know what transpired,” Bantariza said, while Okurut promised to issue a statement after consulting.
Sources told The New vision, that ‘NRA historicals’ among them Lieutenant Generals Salim Saleh, Elly Tumwine and David Tinyefuza attended.
Other officers were Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu, the Army Commander, Maj. Gen James Kazini, Chief of Staff Brig. Nakibus Lakara and former Buhaguzi MP (Hoima) Brig. Matayo Kyaligonza.
The overall commander of Operation Iron Fist, Brig. Aronda Nyakairima, the military assistant to the President, Brig. Kale Kaihura and the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, Lt. Col. Noble Mayombo were present. Ends
