UGANDAN teams will for the first time test Congolese challenge in the 10th edition of the Abe Linc International basketball tournament that tips off tomorrow at YMCA Wandegeya and Makerere University courts.
Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants Goma Bulls have confirmed participation in Uganda’s biggest tournament.
“One of our Congolese players is in Goma with Goma Bulls, he will be here tomorrow (today) or Friday morning,” Rhino Athletics Club (RAC) official Mande Juruni told The New Vision yesterday.
Juruni said that Co-operative Bank and men defending champions Nairobi Combined are expected from Kenya.
Women defending champions Mombasa Combined will not make the trip due an engagement in another competition at home.
Ugandan champions Falcons and 1999 winners of the tournament will be looking to clinch a double.
Sadolin Power, Charging Rhino, Sharing and Miracle are the other men’s team while Lady Bucks, Amazon Rhinos and Nabisunsa are the women teams registered so far.
MTN, Kampala Kids League (KKL) and Afro-net are sponsors of the tournament that will be played under floodlights.
