THE Mbarara resident state attorney, Wilfred Murumba, has written to Lawrence Katebariirwe of Kisenyi cell, Mbarara municipality, demanding that he pay sh10m as damages or else be dragged to court for defamation.
Murumba, through his lawyers Ngaruye Ruhindi, Spencer and Co. Advocates, alleged that in November, Katebariirwe wrote a letter to the Director of Public Prosecutions copied to several government officials in which he defamed him.
In Katebariirwe’s letter to the DPP of November 29, copied to the IGG and ethics and integrity state minister, he reportedly alleged that Murumba illegally released Justin Muhirwe who was implicated in the murder of his brother (Herbert Nyehangane).
But Murumba’s lawyers said Muhirwe was still under custody.
