Workers strike
MBALE – A total of 147 municipal council employees recently went on a sit-down strike protesting non-payment for five months since July and allowances for the last four years. Sources in the accounts and personnel departments, said the arrears mounted to sh80m.

Men arrested
SOROTI – The Police have arrested two men and recovered army uniforms and property in Kengere ward. The men only identified as Ssekedi and Lakojo were allegedly part of a group of thugs the Police were investigating over murder of two people recently.

Orphans get
MBALE – A total of 107 orphans under the apprenticeship programme have received kits worth sh200m from TASO. The chief executive director, Dr. Alex Coutinho, said the programme catered for 887 in the country. Coutinho was handing over the equipment at Mbale TASO offices recently.
