UGANDA has registered an impressive leap in the latest FIFA/Coca Cola rankings that were released early this week by football’s world governing body FIFA, writes Mark Namanya.
Uganda, ranked at 107 in November, is now in 102nd place with 414 points.
The rise is attributed to the resurgence instituted by national coach Paul Hasule, who has lately transformed Cranes’ fortunes.
Uganda finished fourth in the CECAFA championships in Tanzania.
The national team is sandwiched by fellow African side Mozambique at 101 and Northern Ireland at 103.
Cameroon is the highest ranked African country in 16th position while new CECAFA cup champion Kenya is placed in the 80th position with 477 points.
World champions Brazil and France are in first and second position at 856 and 787 points respectively.
