‘Rebels’ rob businessmen
KITGUM — Four armed gangsters, disguised as rebels, on Friday night robbed two businessmen of unspecified amounts of money and household property. Severino Opio and Raymond Obaloker were residents of Pamolo parish in Layamo sub-county 9km north of Kitgum town. the Resident District Commissioner, Capt. Okot Lapolo, said “We got information that they were rebels but later established that they were robbers disguised as rebels.”

Christmas search
KASESE — Residents of Kirembo village in Kisinga sub-county, spent Christmas searching for a misplaced gun stolen from the LCI chairman Eineya Bwambale’s home. He reported the matter to the UPDF detachment. “They must look for that gun because it can be used by bad elements and disrupt the peace in the area,” the commanding officer Rwenzori Mountain Brigade, Lt. Col. Dula Mawa, said on Saturday.

CMI to be relocated
KAMPALA — The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) headquarters at Kitante Courts are to be relocated, defence minister Amama Mbabazi has said. He said recently the current intelligence headquarters would be converted into a Staff and Command College for the UPDF. The minister did not disclose the new location of CMI but military sources said the department is to move to Mbuya hill, a Kampala surburb.
