THE Minister of Works, Housing and Communication, John Nasasira, will next week perform ground-breaking ceremonies for tarmacking four roads to cost Uganda about sh90b.

Muganzi, said the contractors for the roads were ready to begin the work.Nasasira will commission work on the 76-kilometre stretch from Nebbi-Arua on Tuesday, 11:00 am, at Bondo, 34 kilometres from Arua. The road will cost about sh30b. In the afternoon, he will commission work on the 54 kilometre stretch from Pakwach to Nebbi. It will cost over sh18b.On Wednesday at 11:00am Nasasira will be in Kikonda Town laying ground for the tarmacking of the 67 kilometre road from Kiboga-Hoima. The road is expected to cost about sh23.4b.In the afternoon he will be in Kiboga for the Busunju-Kiboga road, which is expected to cost over sh18b.Muganzi said in order to implement its medium term transport strategy, the Government prepared a US$1.5b 10-year Rolling Road sector Development Programme financed by various donors. Under this programme the International Development Association and the Government are co-financing the implementation of the four-phase road Development Programme (RDP).Muganzi said the overall projected total expenditure under RDP was about US$380m.Ends
