DP Pleads On Parties

THE Democratic Party (DP) leader, Dr. Paul Ssemogerere, on Wednesday appealed to Britain, France and their allies to pressure the Uganda government to open up political space, reports Felix Osike.Ssemogerere was among the opposition politicians, Movement reformists and civil organisation leaders who met British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and French Foreign Minister Hurbert Vedrine on Wednesday at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. In a five-page memorandum, Ssemogerere raised the issue of Article 269 which bars political party activities.Ends
