By Darious MagaraKabale LC5 chairman Dr. Francis Runumi has criticised the movement government, saying it was drifting away from democracy.Runumi was speaking on Saturday at celebrations to mark the 16th NRM/A anniversary at Bubare.Runumi said, “The movement which had started well has now developed tribal and religious sectarianism. We have to do what is possible to preserve unity.”“We now have camps, movement camps or caucuses rallying against the multipartyists and vice-versa. Remember this used not to be the case 15 years ago,” he said. The Kabale RDC, Lt. James Mwesigye, who presided over the celebrations, warned the people against joining rebel activities. He said the two Ugandan army officers, Samson Mande and Anthony Kyakabale, who are on a self-imposed exile in Rwanda, were connected to Dr. Kiiza Besigye.Besigye, a retired colonel, is the head of the Reform Agenda, which is agitating for political change. He said they were investigating reports that the dissidents were recruiting rebels in and out of the district using Rwanda as their base.Mwesigye asked the people not to support such reformists in the ongoing LC elections, saying they were connected to rebels.
