UPDF kill 20 ADF rebels

A TOTAL of 20 Allied Democratic Force (ADF) rebel remnants have been killed and seven others including two commanders captured in intensified UPDF operations in the Rwenzori region of the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The commander of the Alphine Mountains Brigade, Lt. Col. Dula Mawa, said the UPDF under its “ADF Sick Bay Destruction” operation also recovered 450 bullets, 12 guns, four grenades and one landmine.Mawa was on Saturday briefing journalists at the 59th battalion headquarters at Kanyabutundu, Bwera town in Hoima district.He said 12 former fighters of the National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (NALU) also reported to the UPDF.Mawa said the captured rebels include two ADF rebel commanders Muhamad Kakooza and Mustafa Swaleh from Kabalagala, Kampala and Galigatya, Mukono district respectively.Mawa, said Kakooza and Swaleh were captured on January 25, in Mangizipa area beyond Butembo in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
