Man Held Over Sh16m ATM Fraud

Detectives from the CID Fraudsquad have arrested a man who was allegedly used by his sick girlfriend to withdraw sh16m using a stolen Standard Chartered Bank Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) card.

By Davis WeddiDetectives from the CID Fraudsquad have arrested a man who was allegedly used by his sick girlfriend to withdraw sh16m using a stolen Standard Chartered Bank Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) card.Deputy Director of CID Okoth Ochola confirmed the arrest of Richard Rusumba Bahizi who was arrested on Monday in Kansanga Kampala at the home where his girlfriend, Pauline Kirungi is currently on a sickbed.The stolen ATM card reportedly belonged to Rebecca Birungi, a BA Mass Communication finalist at Makerere University. Birungi, whose father Mr. Nsubuga is in London, has reportedly been living with Kirungi, a close relative. Details availed by CID headquarters indicate that the fraud was committed between October 28 and November 13, 2000.Ends
