Mrs Kuteesa Dead

By Felix OsikeJENNIFER Kutesa, the wife of the State Minister for Finance in charge of Investment, Sam Kutesa, has died after a long battle with cancer.Kutesa said on phone from the United states of America yesterday that Jennifer died yesterday at 2:00pm local time at the University of Nebraska Medical School. He said he was still waiting for certification before the body is flown home next week.In 1998 Jennifer developed some blood clots and was subsequently diagnosed with lymphoma cancer (leukemia). She was treated in South Africa and later in Nebraska by the world renown expert on blood clots, Dr. Amitage. She returned from South Africa last month, where she had been taken for treatment. But her condition worsened and she was flown to the US.“It was impossible to control it. That is God’s plan,” said Kutesa.The 53-year-old Jennifer is survived by six children and two grandchildren.David Mushabe, a relative said, “She had the best expert but God decided otherwise.” He said burial arrangements were being made.Ofwono Opondo, the Movement Director of Information, expressed shock at the news of her death. He sent condolences to the bereaved family.Jennifer was the mother-in-law to Captain Kainerugaba Muhoozi, son of President Yoweri Museveni. She attended Nyakasura High School and later graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from Nairobi University.Kuteesa said, “She was well for the last two years but during the first week of December last year the cancer erupted again and became severe.”Ends
