Five Killed In Car Accident

By Nicholas KajobaFIVE people died on the spot and two others were seriously injured when a driver of Toyota Hiace commuter taxi UAD 702L lost control and knocked a telephone pole.The accident occurred at Lwanyonyi near Mukono town at 6:00am yesterday.The Police identified the dead as Ismail Senkumba of Lugalambo, Lisen Namala of Nagojje, David Byakatonda, Ibrahim Kyazze of Lugazi town and Abdu Sendagire.Those transferred to Kawolo hospital in critical condition included Mariam Namusoke, wife of Kyazze (deceased) and Muhammed Sebandekke a resident of Lugazi.The officer in charge of traffic, Mukono Police Station, Sam Eyotu, said, “The driver was over speeding and he lost control, which prompted him to knock a telephone pole off the main road.”He said the area is slippery in the rainy season.Ends
