THE ethics and integrity state minister, Mrs. Miria Matembe, has said the Government will crack down on owners of clubs where nude beauty contests and modelling takes place.

The Police also arrested the organiser of the contest, David Busulwa, and the area councillors who were involved. They were interrogated at the CID headquarters the whole day but were released on bond and ordered to return after four days. Two Bukedde newspaper editors and the circulation manager, who were quizzed by the Police last week over publishing nude pictures of the Sky Lark contest, also reported to Police as ordered. Editor Maurice Ssekawungu, chief sub-editor Andrew Kaggwa and circulation manager Tom Wasswa, are to return to the CID headquarters on March 11.Matembe, who vowed to crack down on public stripping, said, “I am told in some clubs (in Kampala), girls strip for these insane men. I am investigating it.”She was opening a three-day national conference on Child Sexual Abuse at Kampala International University yesterday. She said child sexual abuse was rampant and needed to be addressed. “Everyday, my office is flooded with complaints about child sexual abuse,” Matembe said.The conference was organised by the British Council.Ends
