Mao riled by arrest of murder suspects

THE Gulu Municipality Member of Parliament, Nobert Mao, has condemned the arrest of two people implicated in the murder of Alfred Bongomin, the Pabbo Movement Committee boss.

By Dennis OjweeTHE Gulu Municipality Member of Parliament, Nobert Mao, has condemned the arrest of two people implicated in the murder of Alfred Bongomin, the Pabbo Movement Committee boss.Stephen Olanya, the former LC1 chairman of Green Valley Bar Dege Division Gulu, who was also a mayoral candidate and Francis Yumbe, were arrested on Thursday evening and detained at Gulu Police Station.Mao said the two were strong supporters of Uma Kerubino a multipartyist LC5 candidate and had no connection with the murder.Bongomin, 64, was killed by unknown gunmen in his grass-thatched hut at Pabbo displaced person’s camp Pabbo subcounty, in Kilak constituency on the eve of the LC5 elections.He vowed to sue Lt. Col. Walter Ochora Odoch, the municipality LC5 chairman-elect for slander and defamation.Mao said Ochora claimed he had evidence on a tape recorder that implied that he (Mao) and other MPs, Michael Nyeko Ocula (Kilak) and Ronald Reagan Okumu (Aswa) had masterminded Bongomin’s murder because of political rivalry.He said the tape was played during a feature programme on Radio Freedom, a popular station in northern Uganda.
