ABOUT 400 Makerere University students from the Faculty of Arts will miss this year’s graduation ceremony because they failed their exams.

By Fortunate AhimbisibweABOUT 400 Makerere University students from the Faculty of Arts will miss this year’s graduation ceremony because they failed their exams.The ceremony, set for April 5, will see only 773 of the 1,200 students in the Arts faculty graduate from all the 12 departments, including Mass Communication, Tourism, Environmental Management, Urban Planning, B.A. Arts, Secretarial Studies, Drama and Divinity.The faculty administrator, Thomas Baguma, said an average of 400 students would miss the ceremony because of failure to pass certain course units.“An estimated 400 students will miss graduation because they failed some course units. “Students who will not graduate are to blame because they were to re-take the course units they failed or those they were reluctant to do,” Baguma said. Of the 773 graduands, 335 are from Bachelor of Arts (Arts).The Associate Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hannington Ssengendo, said students whose names do not appear on the list will not graduate.”Ends
