SOME of the toilets built under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme in various parts of Uganda have collapsed.

Musamali SOME of the toilets built under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme in various parts of Uganda have collapsed.State minister for primary education Namirembe Bitamazire said yesterday the collapse of newly- built toilets, especially in Katakwi district, has raised concern in government.Namirembe Bitamazire was speaking at the consultative workshop for policy makers and implementers under the Forum for Education Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Uganda (FENU).The workshop was funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and jointly organised by Minds Across Africa School Clubs (MAASC) at Hotel Equatoria. The Rockfeller associate director for Africa, Dr. Catherine Namuddu, the Assistant Commissioner for Secondary Education, Robinson Nsumba-Lyazi and Kampala city inspector of schools Charles Masaba Wakoko attended the workshop.Ends
