FORMER presidential candidate Francis Bwengye has never lost interest in the top Democratic Party (DP) seat, reports Jude Etyang.Bwengye, the leader of a DP faction which emerged in November 2000 after a controversial national council meeting, has filed a suit in the High Court in Kampala, demanding he be declared the party president.Through Oloya, Donge and Company Advocates, Bwengye and three of his committee members, are asking the court to declare the November 24 meeting which elected them to office lawful, and to recognise and proclaim their respective posts. Bwengye’s move follows a long running court battle in which current DP President-General Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere blocked Bwengye’s official proclamation as president, saying the national council meeting was illegally convened.Ends
