By Catherine Ntabaddeand Lillian NalumansiTHE wedding of the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, Solomon Gafabusa Iguru and Margaret Karunga, has been set for June 29, 2002.However, some sections of the Banyoro in Kampala, suggest that it be cancelled until the ethnic clashes in Kibaale district are resolved.“The major issues of the day will not be solved by high sounding rhetoric but by raising dust and shedding blood,” Kyaboogo Kakiiza, an independent researcher and a Munyoro residing in Kampala said. The Banyoro-Batoro in Kampala had convened to discuss the Omukama’s wedding and the ethnic clashes.Bunyoro Kingdom press secretary Henry Ford Mirima said it would be wrong for the Omukama to celebrate while his subjects were being killed.Public service minister Henry Kajura who called the meeting said the wedding at St. Peters Cathedral, Duhaga would coincide with the Omukama’s eighth coronation (empango) anniversary to be held at his Hoima Palace.Ends
