South African ‘pros’ due

By Ronnie KintuSOUTH African based semi-professionals Kenneth Kamyuka, Lawrence Ssematimba and Franco Nsubuga return home on Monday, and will feature on the Ugandan team to face visiting Kenyan side Swambipa on Easter Sunday.The trio have been outstanding on the South Africa domestic league.Their all-round performance has taken Tasmanians CC to the second slot in the league.The trio, expected back this weekend after the end of the local season in South Africa, are highly sought after with other clubs in Johannesburg seeking to sign contracts with them.They have also opened venues for many more Ugandans. Several other South African clubs are now prepared to recruit players from this country because of the achievements of the trio.Kamyuka, Ssematimba and Nsubuga are expected to start immediate drills with the national team ahead of the International Cricket Council (ICC) associates tournament in Malaysia slated for May.Kenyan league giants Swamibapa will send a 25-man squad which will arrive in Kampala March 28 to play against Uganda U-19 and UCA XI teams on invitation by the local governing body.r FAST arm bowler Richard Okia returned home from South Africa with a bowling distinction from Johannesburg-based Tasmania Cricket Club (TCC) on Monday.Okia,18, a student at Kings College Buddo, was offered a rare opportunity by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) to attend the fast bowlers international academy.“I feel a great change in my pace bowling now,” Okia said.ENDS
