By Fred Kayizzi Kiboga RDC Livingstone Katenda Luutu has cancelled a public meeting organised by state minister for defence Ruth Nankabirwa at Ntunda, where Swaibu Malinga, the LC2 chairman of the area, was killed during the LC5 elections.Katenda said on Tuesday he had stopped the Saturday meeting “as a security precaution to prevent any more problems in the district.”Nankabirwa, who is also the woman MP for Kiboga district, had called a meeting of Ntunda residents following reports that a group of people were seeking voters’ signatures to recall her from Parliament.Katenda told the Inspector General of Police, Major General Katumba Wamala, at Kiboga that he had barred Nankabirwa from visiting Ntunda, “as part of the tight security measures in the area.”Katumba Wamala was meeting Kiboga local leaders at the district council hall following a one-day tour of Police units in the district.Katenda, who is also chairman of the district security committee, directed the district Police Commander (DPC), ASP Okot, to ensure that the Ntunda meeting is called off.“This is one of the indications that we act swiftly on security issues,” Katenda told Katumba Wamala.Katumba Wamala warned local leaders to stop their “diatribe on radios because it will disturb the probe into the killing of Malinga.”He said leaders should also stop pressurising the CID officials who are investigating the case. He, however, assured them that Police would do everything possible to find the killers of Malinga and urged whoever has information about the murder to submit it to the Police. The LC5 chairman, Siraje Nkugwa Kizito, said there was a group of armed civilians moving around the district discouraging people to pay taxes. He said the group consisted of campaign agents for his opponent. He said some Police officials in the district abetted gambling by the youths. “That is why they did not support me during the recent LC5 elections,” Kizito said.
