Yumbe RDC Ahmed Doka, has warned residents against electing candidates who frustrate Government policies, reports Jamal Abdi.

Yumbe RDC Ahmed Doka, has warned residents against electing candidates who frustrate Government policies, reports Jamal Abdi.“I call upon you the people of Yumbe to elect an effective candidate who will support and not frustrate Government programmes if we are to continue developing the area,” he said. Doka was recently speaking during nominations of candidates vying to contest the Aringa parliamentary seat at Yumbe Resource Centre. He said, “Yumbe as a new district has benefited from the prevailing peace. We must strengthen this peace that we are enjoying by voting candidates who stand for peace, unity and development,” he said.Yumbe Returning Officer, Christopher Yikii, urged the candidates to desist from using abusive language during the campaigns. He said campaigns should be centred on their political manifestoes. He advised candidates and their agents to minimise cases of rigging saying, “You have a role to play in a free and fair election.”Four candidates are vying for the seat. They include Othman Alonga, a lecturer at Mbale, Pamvuga Pascal Alokore, Mahmoud Anguliga and Manuah Achile.Ends
