MukonoBy Patrick LugandaThe stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. Eunice Naswali, a couple of years ago, was accused with three other girls of setting ablaze a dormitory at St. Mary’s School Namagunga. The four were bundled and jailed at Jinja road police station. Police investigations exonerated her and the board of governors sat and accepted her back. The other three were expelled. Today she is the Pearl of Namagunga, as the best student in the school and Mukono district. Her score of aggregate eight in eight subjects will make her hold her head high.“I was not so sure about Science practicals especially Chemistry and Additional Mathematics. There was a decline in my mocks performance and this encouraged to read harder. “My normal marks were above 72 % in all subjects and the mocks really worried me. I thank God for leading me through,” says Eunice. Her father Samuel Naswali, working with Send A Cow at Namirembe, says she has been a focussed girl with a determination to do well. Eunice Naswali will take Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology at ‘A’ level. She hopes to become an electronics and software engineer in the future. The third born of five children, Eunice was born a day after Martyrs day on June 4. In the next few days, she will feast on her favourite dish of Irish potatoes and chicken with groundnut sauce as a side dish. A glass of passion fruit will wash the delicacy down to her satisfaction.Ends
