Vendors stayKAMPALA — The city council authorities (KCC) have suspended the eviction of vendors from the city until further notice. They said the issue had been politicised. “KCC’s programme to evict the vendors from the streets has been interrupted by the way the matter is being politicised,” the city spokesman, Simon Muhumuza, said yesterday. “Our position on the vendors has always been clear. They go back from where they came from. But when an issue gets politicised, you put technical reasons aside,” Muhumuza said.-----DPP dropsKAMPALA — The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has dropped the treason charges that had been preferred against two suspects arrested in connection with the March 17 ADF rebel attack on Kasese town last year. Kaida Byaruhanga, 29, and Asiimwe Kibinduka, 36, were arrested on suspicion that they may have had knowledge of the attack.-----Aringa pollKAMPALA — The electoral materials for the Aringa parliamentary seat by-election set for today, are already in place.
