PALM Resort Beach Entebbe, formerly Entebbe Resort Beach, has banned the use and sale of alcohol, reports Kezio D. Musoke. The Management of Palm Resort Beach yesterday said, “The beach no longer serves alcohol.”Managing director Getrude Magambo said that, “With effect from the 24th of March this year, the management wants to help the public have a decent place for recreation.” “Palm Resort Beach, Entebbe is pleased to announce a positive change. It no longer serves alcohol.” Magambo said the services at the resort, formerly owned by the defunct Greenland Group of Companies, include a gymnasium, a health club and the “only squash courts in Entebbe.” The resort was taken over by Bank of Uganda to recover outstanding debts. Magambo said, “Palm Resort Beach is renting the resort from Bank of Uganda. We are also managing it.“Parents can now have a sense of security sending their children to Palm Beach for genuine recreation. We are instead introducing the ‘one-day ticket’ at sh10,000, which includes two sodas, a camel ride, a ride on a merry-go-round and many other things,” she added. She said the new policy has nothing to do with The Red Pepper reports. Red Pepper earlier this year published a story and pictures of children having sex at the beach in public. “This has nothing to do with press reports,” she added.
