UBL launches UWESO funds drive golf

By Douglas MazuneUGANDA Breweries Limited (UBL) is organising a golf tournament that will contribute towards Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO)’s $50,000 (sh87m) endowment fund.UBL is organising the second Bell Lager Novices Charity Golf Tournament where several companies will join them at Uganda Golf Club to raise funds.Each company will enter a team of four players at sh140,000 in the tournament scheduled for May 9. UBL marketing manager Baker Magunda was optimistic this year’s tournament would attract more companies than the inaugural one that yielded sh10m last year.“We are more than glad to once again hold the tournament and encourage everyone to come and participate in the event,” Magunda said yesterday at the launch of the event at Uganda Breweries in Luzira.UWESO, in charge of 65000, orphans has so far raised $20,000 (sh35) of the targeted sh87m.UWESO chairperson Marcella Mukasa hailed UBL for bringing together companies to support orphans through golf.ends
