UGANDA clinched a double win on the opening day of the International Cricket Council (ICC) East Africa boys’ and women’s tournament yesterday.

By Ronnie KintuBoys U-17Uganda 211/9 Tanzania 163/10TodayUganda v Kenya WomenUganda 120/10 Kenya 83/10TodayKenya v TanzaniaUGANDA clinched a double win on the opening day of the International Cricket Council (ICC) East Africa boys’ and women’s tournament yesterday.Isa Emanuel and Kibuka Musoke led the Uganda Under-17 boys with a beautiful 48 run victory over Tanzania at Lugogo oval while Christine Aryemo led the women’s team to a 37 run win over Kenya at Kyambogo.Uganda’s boys showed great resilience at Lugogo, battling from three for 64 in 20 overs, to a magnificent 211 for nine in the allotted 50 overs.Mid order batsman Cyrus Kibuuka Musoke (48) lifted the score to a respectable 175/8 in 42 overs before late order bat Isa Emmanuel added an unbeaten 47.Opening bowler David Musoke (2/35) and first change Ronald Ssemanda (2/28) damaged the visitors, restricting them to 4/42 in 11 with only captain Dharmin Parmar, 62 not out, defiant.
