Idi amin’s son files polls petition

A son of former head of state Idi Amin Dada, Ali Amin Kirunda, who was the runner up in Njeru Town Council polls, Mukono district has filed a petition in the high court.
By Vision ReporterA son of former head of state Idi Amin Dada, Ali Amin Kirunda, who was the runner up in Njeru Town Council polls, Mukono district has filed a petition in the high court.Kirunda contested for the chairmanship in the recent local council elections. The seat was won by Paulo Musoke.Kirunda recently filed a petition through his counsels Godfrey Lukwago and Caleb Alaka.They cited bribery, violence and non-compliance with provisions of the local government act as grounds of the suit filed in the Jinja high court.The Petition which also seeks costs of the case wants the high court to nullify the results of Njeru Town council elections and order for fresh elections. Musoke and the Electoral Commission are the first and second respondents in the suit.“Contrary to section 135 of the Local government act, the Electoral commission caused voting to commence at 4:00pm in numerous polling stations and refused to adjourn the polls to the following day,†the petition said.
