Seeks to fill two vacancies in Kitgum District, Uganda.Water TechnicianResponsibilities: On-going assessment and disinfection of existing water sources. Co-ordinate and supervise; field assessments to map new water sources, water supply projects, the distribution of supplies and personnel to project sites. Advise, investigate and recommend alternative sources of water. Conduct testing, analyze field data, and assess borehole suitability for motorization. Collect, collate and analyze relevant water statistics to use as verifiable indicators of water conditions. Perform various related duties.Qualifications: Minimum Diploma in Water Engineering or related field and two years work experience in water supply construction and maintenance. Community mobilization experience, working with NGOs, fluency in English and Luo and good communication skills are a must. Computer skills, motorcycle license are preferred.Sanitation program AssistantResponsibitities: Prepare, translate and deliver training materials for hygiene and sanitation education to IDP refugee and host communities in collaboration with the District Health Inspector’s Office and District Health Orderlies. Mobilize communities and leaders for: to meet, to participate in latrine construction and hygiene education training, to raise funds for and participate in design and rehabilitation of their water supply projects. Collect, collate and analyze relevant health statistics from Health orderlies in IDP camps to use as verifiable indicators of sanitation conditions. Work hand in hand with Programme Manager and give oversight advice on all sanitation-related issues.Qualifications: Minimum of a Diploma in Social Work or two years work experience in water and sanitation activities in IDP or refugee settings. Desirable candidate will have experience in community mobilization, relevant team experience, good communication skills and fluency in English and Luo.
