By Harry SagaraWenge Musica are arguably the hottest thing to come out of the Democratic Republic of Congo after those bombs and gunfire that have been rocking the eastern part of the country.Their prowess was proved when members of the now defunct musical group swept all the top honours at the just concluded Congolese musical awards.Quoting sources from Kinshasa, The Sunday Nation, reported that the Wenge Musica cream of Werrason a.k.a Ngiama Makanda and Jean Bedel (JB) Mpiana shared the top slot of Best Musician in a neck-to-neck run down that saw judges almost failing to give this ward to a particular person. Apparently, the judgement was based on an opinion poll carried out through music fans and critics, who all agreed that though the twosome are currently arch-rivals, they deserved to take the top honours.Werrasson and Mpiana were the brainchildren of the now defunct group Wenge Musica that composed such beautiful music as Surprise kapangala, Hi-ho-ha, Ndombolo ya solo and Kalai Boeing. Other members included Blaise Bula, Didier Masela, Allain Makaba and Titina. The group split in 1997 after a tour of Kenya and Tanzania apparently over money problems.ends
